Gym memberships are one of the great modern-day scams. They charge exorbitant fees and good luck trying to cancel your membership! Of course, they do offer the latest technology to help you fine-tune your body and get in shape. When you visit a modern gym, you come face-to-face with treadmills equipped with television screens, stationary bikes on which you can check your e-mail while you pedal, and scientifically designed contraptions that work every tiny muscle and fiber in your body.
But are these pieces of equipment effective, and more importantly, are they worth being indebted to the gym? Is there a better way? In fact, there is, and you may be surprised at how easy and inexpensive it is! It’s a more natural and gadget-free way of exercising, where not only your body, but your spirit will be uplifted and transformed. It’s the Natural Exercise method.
Natural Exercise is a means of exercising where the only instrument used is your body. There are no electronics, no gizmos and no distractions. It’s the purest form of exercise available, just your body and nature. Here are some of the Natural Exercises you can use to tighten and tone your body.
Calisthenics – The age-old means of exercise. Push-ups, sit-ups, squats and many other easy to follow exercises designed to optimize not just strength, but endurance and flexibility as well. The best means of exercise is through using your own body weight as resistance. Try this exercise out: Stand upright, legs slightly apart and perform a single squat. A single squat is equivalent to taking two steps up a hill. If you can perform a series of squats over the course of 20 minutes, you will get the same benefit as if you ran up a flight of steps. You can get in your workout without having to leave your home.
Power-Walking – Power walking is the act of walking at a brisk pace. Not quite jogging, but much faster than walking. Sure, it looks kind of silly, but it provides the cardiovascular benefits of jogging without the risk of damaging your knees and ankles. It gives your body a better workout than simply walking and it’s easy enough for just about anyone.
Deep Stretching – Your body needs to be stretched. After a long, stressful day, a deep stretch can greatly help reduce the tension in your body and allow blood and oxygen to flow. Deep stretching is best done in a quiet and calming place, away from noise and distractions. Some light music will help you to relax and some light stretching should be done as a warm up before you move into deeper stretches. Warming up your muscles reduces the chance of injury, such as pulling a muscle.
Martial Arts – Martial Arts provide you with valuable self defense moves, while also giving you a total body workout. There are many different styles of Martial Arts, but they each help to clear the mind and strengthen the body through centuries-old, proven techniques.
Isometric Exercises – Isometric exercises work your muscles without the use of equipment. A good example of an isometric exercise is simply standing still and clenching your buttock muscles. Keep them clenched as tight as possible for as long as possible, remembering to breathe. Relax the buttocks and do it again. This type of conditioning can be applied to the abdomen, the pelvis and many other areas of the body. The simple act of constricting and relaxing muscles will increase your muscle density in a short amount of time.
Other forms of Natural Exercise include yoga, deep breathing exercises, dance, aerobics, hiking, and swimming. Activities like these are often more rewarding and more fun than going to the gym. You will begin to see your body transformed through these time-proven beneficial exercises. Take the distractions out of your exercise routine and before you know it, you’ll feel better, you’ll look better and you won’t have to muster up the ambition to drive to the gym. Everything you need to be the picture of perfect health is right at your disposal…for free!
