Many times a door will require maintenance with hand power tools as a house ages. This may be because the door is becoming weak, or the entire house is shifting. Almost all stuck doors can befixed with a couple basic hand power tools.
- Step 1: Identify what is making the door stick. Check to see if the hinges are loose or if the door is simply getting stuck on the frame.
- Step 2: If the hinges are loose, try tightening them with hand power tools. A powered screw driver would work for this. You may have to replace old screws with new, longer ones.
- Step 3: If the door is sticking around the frame use a hand held sander or powered planer to trim a little bit of the door off.
How to Repair Damage On a Door with Hand Power Tools
Stuck doors sometimes leave marks on the frame, or ground from where it was sticking. If the surface is wood you can use hand power tools to make the surface smooth and paint it over again. The sander or planer would be able to fix this as well.
