How a Laptop Cooling Fan Works
A laptop cooling fan works in the same manner as a desktop computer fan, cooling the interior of the computer. Laptops are prone to extreme heat build up and the fan keeps the laptop at a safe temperature to prevent it shutting down.
Noise
While a laptop fan can become noisy after much use, it is better to keep it on a slightly elevated surface. The fan is usually attached to the motherboard and heat from the inside is sent through vents in the bottom back of the laptop.
How it Works
When you boot up your laptop the motherboard sets the fan power in motion and the fan begins to spin fast to cool the air inside the laptop. There are USB external fans and laptop coolers which can enhance the cooling abilities of the internal fan and assist in keeping the laptop far cooler than a single internal fan.
Keeping it Cool
To keep your laptop cool, do not use it in extremely hot places or direct sunlight. Also, keep it slightly elevated away from the table top to prevent the vents coming blocked or hampered. A docking port will also provide extra cooling facilities for your laptop.
