How can I apply a faux finishing to my walls?

by DoItYourself Staff

Applying faux finishing to your walls has become particularly trendy over the last few years, with people being bored of regular paintwork and wanting a change from wallpapering. First, you need to decide on the faux finish you want, as there is a huge range available, including leather, brick, parchment, and suede. Secondly, apply an eggshell base coat, taking care not to get any paint on your moldings, if you have any. It is advisable to cover these in masking tape. Finally, apply the finish you want, creating textures and shapes with techniques specific to your chosen finish.
