How can I raise a front load stacked washer dryer without pedestals?

by DoItYourself Staff

A front load stacked washer and dryer is usually raised for convenience, to prevent a lot of bending and stretching during loading and unloading. If you decide not to purchase pedestals to use, there are other alternatives. A wooden platform can be easily built, using at least 1/2 inch thick plywood, cut to the size of the washer. The height of the sides will depend upon how much you want the washer dryer to be raised.
Paint the platform with a heavy duty oil based enamel to finish it. Some people like to also spray the wood with a fire retardant.
