How can I test my fuel pressure regulator?

by DoItYourself Staff

You can test your fuel pressure regulator by getting a pressure gauge. This gauge tests the pressure generated by your regulator and checks if it is working at its optimum level. A normal range of pressure would be from 45 – 55 psi. Simply insert this device into the testing port to get a reading. If there is no port present, simply get a fuel filter hose and bypass the line.  Anything higher or lower than this range means there is something wrong with your fuel pressure regulator. A small difference in pressure will probably be acceptable but a large variation in the result of the test should make you consider checking the regulator further.
