How often does concrete porch paint need to be reapplied?

by DoItYourself Staff

Concrete porch paint, a specialized high-gloss, high-usage paint, made specifically for public spaces, has a life of about 5 years, before it should be renewed. This rule of thumb comes from experts, who have watched high-traffic and low-traffic areas. For example, you may find that you will have to use a yearly application of concrete porch paint, in an area such as the front doorway of a building, where there is a high-degree of foot traffic, and where caustic chemicals are used during the winter. Low-traffic areas may only require 5-year, or even 6-year renewals, as these areas do not take the same beating heavily trafficked areas do.
