How to Apply Fiberglass Wax on Your Boat
what you'll need
- Detergent
- Boat Cleaner
- Sponge
- Wax
- Clean Cloth
- Soft Buffing Attachments
- Drilling or Rotary Tool
Fiberglass wax is easy to apply. But there are some preparations that you should do on the surface of the fiberglass before you can start applying wax on it. Here's how.
Step 1 - Clean the Boat
Wash the boat with detergent solution. Rinse with hot or tap water. Allow to dry.
Get the dry, absorbent cloth and apply boat cleaner on it. Pick a cleaner that can remove algae, Zebra Mussels and barnacles. Allow to sit for a few minutes before rubbing the surface again with a dry cloth to remove tough stains. There is no need to rinse.
Step 2 - Apply Wax
Get another dry cloth and apply the wax on it. Rub the cloth on the boat in a circular motion. Apply to entire surface of the boat. Let it settle for 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 3 - Buff
Get another clean, dry cloth and use it to buff the surface of the boat. If you have a rotary tool with soft buffing attachments, use it. Attach the buffing pad into the drilling tool. Plug the tool, turn it on, and buff the surface with the rotary tool.
