One you have seamless gutters in place, you want to care for them properly so that they last for years.
Clean Frequently
The biggest problem you will have with your seamless gutters is that they fill with leaves, sticks, roof particles and other debris from nearby vegetation. You need to remove this debris regularly.
Failing to remove this debris will lead to sagging gutters and perhaps broken gutters. Worse, it can also lead to flooding basements and erosion in the landscaping.
Prevention is the Best Cure
In order to prevent buildup of debris, you can install guards over the gutters to act as leaf strainers, commonly called gutter guards. These prevent the leaves, sticks, and other debris from falling into the gutter at all.
You still need to clean the guards so that they don’t become clogged as well.
You can also install a leaf catcher on the roof – a slender piece of metal that may catch some of the leaves from the standard water flow before they enter the gutter.
Mechanics
Also remember to check bracket hangers, endcaps and downspouts frequently. If a bracket breaks, a downspout rusts, or an endcap comes off, gutters could sag, leak or flood.
