How to Change Two-Stroke Engine Oil

by DoItYourself Staff

what you'll need

  • Wrench
  • Funnel
  • Oil Drain Pan
  • Two Stroke Engine Oil

People who ride motorcycles know all about  changing two stroke engine oil. Here is how to change the oil in a dirt bike or motorcycle:

Step 1 - Parking the Motorcylce

The first thing to do is to park the motorcycle or dirt bike on a flat surface. Make sure that the kick stand has been activated.

Step 2 - Placing the Oil Drain Pan into Place

Next, place the oil drain pan under the engine block, and use the wrench to unscrew the drain plug. The oil must be completely drained.

Step 3 - Tighten the Drain Plug

After draining the oil, screwed the drain plug back in tightly. Next, unscrew the top oil check dipstick. It is very important that you know what type of two stroke engine oil that your motorcycle requires. Check with the vehicles dealer to be sure.

Step 4 - Adding the New Two Stroke Engine Oil

After making sure that everything checks out, place the funnel in the oil check dipstick hole. Fill the oil compartment with oil. It should read at the full level on the dipstick. This finishes the job.
