How to Check a Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve
The water inlet valve, which is typically found inside refrigerators, is used to control water flow. When the you begin experiencing problems with the refrigerator, such as water backing up or overflowing the machine, you need to check the water inlet valve in order to determine whether or not it is the source of your problem. If you determine that the problem with your refrigerator’s backflow is the water inlet valve, it can be repaired simply and easily.
Properly Testing a Water Inlet Valve
In order to properly test the water inlet valve you need to first completely unplug the machine. With the refrigerator unplugged locate the water inlet valve which should be visible once you remove the kick panel at the bottom of the refrigerator. Once you have located the water inlet valve, visibly check it for any damage, including cracks that may appear. This could be indicative of a potential problem that can be fixed by removing the water inlet valve and replacing it with a new one.
If you do not detect any physical damage to the water inlet valve, such as cracks or other signs of wear and tear, your problem with the refrigerator may be elsewhere in the machine.
