How to Clean a Bar Blender

A bar blender is a good tool to use when throwing parties or other events. They make it easy to blend several drinks at once and will last a long time if you maintain them properly. Bar blenders must be cleaned thoroughly in order to make sure that there is no bacteria that will transfer from one gathering to the next.

The Blender Jar

Make sure that you attach the blender jar appropriately to the base of your blender, and then fill your blender ¾ full with warm water. Add ½ teaspoon of dish detergent and 1 tablespoon of baking soda to the water to thoroughly clean your mixer. If you do not have baking soda on hand, the dish detergent will be enough to clean the mixer.

After you have filled the jar with the liquid substance, run your blender for at least 20 seconds to make sure that the detergent cleans all parts of the blender. Make sure you run the blender at high speed for best results. After you have mixed the water in the blender, discard it in the sink, and then repeat the process as many times as you need to fully clean the device.

After you have fully cleaned the blender, you must rinse it with warm water 3-4 times to make sure that it will not leave detergent residue. Fill your jar with only ¾ warm water to do this and mix it in with your blender. Either dry the blender carefully by using a dishtowel, or allow it to air dry upside down.

Dispensers and Spouts

Some bar blenders will come with spouts or dispensers. To clean these, fill the main liquid dispenser with warm water and allow it to run into the blender jar and out of the spout. Do this several times until the water comes out completely clean. Detergent should not be used in this process, because it will often leave an aftertaste, but if the water remains dirty or unclean after several cleansings, you could add a little baking soda to help clean the dispenser.

The Blade Assembly

Unplug your blender and remove the jar from the base of the unit. If the blade is removable, take it out of the jar and wash it under hot water and dishwashing soap, being very careful not to cut your hands. You can let it air dry or dry it with a dishtowel.

If the blade is not removable, clean it with a long brush, making sure that you clean both sides of the blade. Rinse with hot water and allow it to air dry upside down.

The Base and Cord

Making sure that your cord is unplugged, clean your base with cleanser and a damp rag. Do not plug in your blender until the unit is fully dry.

Cleaning your high-speed blender is a good part in keeping it maintained, so you can use for many years.
