It is a common thing to find a bronze pendant light in homes, especially in rustic houses. By being stylish, but not too elegant, these light fixtures are popular in many homes as they go well with many styles and home décor themes. These types of light fixtures normally are made up of bronze and some glass. As any other fixture or piece of furniture it has to be cleaned from time to time, and since it is made from bronze it requires extra care and specialized cleaning methods. These are some guidelines as to how to best clean a bronze pendant light:
Step 1 - Wipe Off Any Dirt
Start off by removing any residuals such as dust and other dirt that may be on the bronze part of the pendant light. Use a clean, soft cloth or brush. You may also wish to use some warm water so as to remove all the dust particles which may have stuck onto the pendant.
Step 2 - Use Baking Soda and Lemon Juice
There are a number of good ways to care for and clean bronze without having to buy expensive cleaning products. One such way is by mixing some baking soda and lemon juice in a bowl. Then apply the concoction on a piece of soft cloth and rub onto the bronze part of the pendant light. Leave it to work on the bronze part of the light pendant and then rinse off with some water. Afterward, make sure that it is carefully wiped dry since moisture cannot be left in contact with bronze for a prolonged time.
Step 3 - Use Some Vinegar
Another effective method of cleaning bronze is by using some vinegar. Put some vinegar in a bowl, together with a spoon of flour and a spoon of salt. Mix them well until a paste is formed with the 3 elements, and then apply a small quantity onto the bronze part by dipping a piece of cloth into the mixture and scrubbing gently by consistent circular movements until you reach the desired effect on the bronze. Leave this paste to work on the pendant for some minutes, ideally between 15 and 30 minutes to give it enough time to act and make an effect. Rinse the affected part with some clean water to remove all the paste from the bronze.
Step 4 - Use Bronze Polish
There are several cleaning products on the market, and bronze polish is also available. Although it has several positive attributes one should not use it regularly and frequently as it might tend to cause the bronze to wear away slightly. It is best to use wax or lacquer from time to time to help it retain its brightness and natural shine.
If you still see some greenish parts on your bronze pendant light repeat the process a number of times. You will need to be patient and not give up easily so as to ultimately achieve the shining clean effect that bronze can provide to your light pendant.
