The barbecue grills are a crucial part of making anything on your barbecue. Therefore, you should keep them as clean as possible to ensure you can cook on a clean surface and have the best tasting food. This easy to follow guide will describe exactly how to go about cleaning the grill on your gas barbecue to ensure tasty, healthy food.
Step 1- Self Clean
The first thing you will want to do when cleaning your grill is to check the dials and knobs for one that says something similar to “self clean”. While this alone is not enough to properly clean your grill it will do a lot of the work for you and make the rest of the process that much easier. Depending on the barbeque this process could take anywhere from thirty minutes to several hours so be prepared to wait for a while but periodically check the barbecue because you do not want to allow it to fully cool down before you start cleaning the grill.
Step 2- Safety
After you have run the self clean function on your gas barbecue, it is time to disconnect it from the gas supply. This is to ensure safety, as gas can be very touchy and dangerous. If your gas is stored in a tank, remove the tank and set it somewhere out of the way for safe keeping before moving on to step number three.
Step 3- Cleaning the Grill Grates
Now that you have run the self clean and removed the gas, you are ready to actually start cleaning your grates. At this point, they should still be warm but not hot enough to cook with. This will allow whatever may be caked on to come off easier before it cools and gets stuck to the grill again. With your gloves on, remove the grates from the barbecue and set them on a newspaper or sheet. Using your wire brush, rub the grates hard. Keep doing this until this side of the grill is clean or as clean as it will get with this strategy. Once complete, flip the grates over and do the other side in the exact same fashion.
Step 4- Further Cleaning
Now that the grates are off you can use soap, water and your rag or sponge to wipe down the inside of the grill. You may want to pull out everything you can down to the burners, so long as they are meant to be disassembled and reassembled like that. This allows for a thorough and easy cleaning. Once this is done, you may reassemble the barbecue. Now, gently clean off the outside of the barbecue using your soap, water and rag or sponge. Once this is complete, replace the cover on your barbecue and you are completely done cleaning it.
