- Compressed air
The activated charcoal in an appliance like an oven should be cleaned regularly. It is a simple and necessary process. Read on to find out how you can do it yourself.
Step 1 – Refer the Manual
The manual that comes with your appliance will help you locate the charcoal filter. Generally, the filters are found in the hood area. Before you start cleaning the activated charcoal make sure to turn off the appliance.
Step 2 – The Vent Plate
The vent plate covering the charcoal filter has to be removed. Remove the screws that are holding the plate in place. Safely put away the screws, as they have to be re-used. After removing the screws the vent will snap out and you will be able to access the charcoal filter.
Step 3 – Clean
Use an air compressor to blow the dirt or dust from the charcoal filter. After cleaning it, place it back in the appliance and secure the vent in place.
Normally, it is advised to replace the charcoal filter every three years. Cleaning the charcoal filter regularly would also suffice.
