How to Clean Cracks in Ceramic Tile Kitchen Counter Tops

by DoItYourself Staff

what you'll need

  • Vacuum
  • Rag
  • Tile cleaner

Cracks in a ceramic tile kitchen counter can easily collect dust and dirt. If you don't regularly clean the cracks, gathered debris can make them look worse than they really are. Follow the simple steps below to effectively clean cracks in ceramic tile.

Step 1 - Vacuum

The first thing that you should do is try to clean out the dirt and dust from the crack. To do this, use a vacuum with a small hose attachment. You can run the vacuum attachment over the crack and remove all of the dirt from inside it. Make sure all solid debris is lifted and gone before you proceed.

Step 2 - Clean

Once you get all of the dirt and dust out of the crack, you need to clean the surface. To do this, purchase a ceramic tile cleaner at a tile store or at a home improvement warehouse. Pour some of this cleaner on the crack, and then use your rag to wipe it down. This will significantly improve the look of your ceramic tile, even if it has cracks.
