How to Clean Flat Screen TV

by DoItYourself Staff

what you'll need

  • Soft Cloth Warm Water
  • Specialized Cleaner Cleaners

If you have invested money into a flat screen TV, you should make sure and take care of it. Flat screen televisions are sensitive devices and need to be properly cleaned. Keep reading for some basic tips on how to clean your own flat screen TV.

Many people have ruined their flat screen TVs because they used strong chemical cleaners or chemical sprays to try and clean them. Because flat screens are much different than the glass tub television screens, you cannot use strong chemicals or sprays as they can seep into the circuitry. If you want to use a cleaner, purchase one that is clearly labeled as safe for lap top screens or LCD and plasma screens.

The Process

Take a very soft cloth and soak it in lukewarm water or dampen it with your specialized cleaner. Take the cloth and simply wipe down the television screen slowly and softly, just one time over. Do not attempt to scrub or press down harder as this will only cause possible damage to the television screen.

What to Avoid

As mentioned above, it is most important to avoid strong chemical cleaners and sprays. Also, do not use paper towels to clean your flat screen or it will leave scratch marks.
