How to Connect a Dishwasher Drain Hose

A dishwasher drain hose must be connected properly to ensure that dirty water from your dishwasher is drained away from the  interior of the appliance. A badly connected hose can result in constant leaks or water seeping back into the dishwasher which may result in dirty dishes even after a cycle has been run.

Step 1 - Cut Water and Electrical Supply

Cut the water supply when you are working on a dishwasher. This will allow you to work without the worry of getting soaked. It is also important to remove the source of electricity from the appliance.

Step 2 - Locate Access Hole

You need to locate the access hole before you can fit a drain hose to a dishwasher. This can vary from one machine to the next so make sure you have the manufacturer's guide in front of you. Commonly, the access point for a drain hose will be on the back of a dishwasher, just to either side of the center.

Step 3 - Connect Hose

Use the connection point to firmly fix the hose over the access point. Use hose clamps to hold the hose in place to prevent it from falling off or moving around. Reconnect the water and electrical supply and the job is done.
