How to Downgrade Voltage on a 6V Battery

In order to downgrade the voltage on a 6v battery, here are a few steps, tools and materials needed to accomplish this task.

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • 6-Volt Battery
  • 4-Volt Battery Charger
  • Battery Tester

Step 1: Connect the 6-Volt Battery

Set up the 4-volt battery charger in accordance to its instructions. Connect the 6-volt battery to the 4-volt charger.  This should downgrade the 6-volt battery to 4-volts by discharging the voltage.

Step 2: Disconnect Battery Charger

After the discharge has been completed, disconnect the 4-volt battery charger from 6-volt battery.

Step 3: Test the 6-Volt Battery

Use a battery tester to determine if the 6-volt battery has been discharged.  If not, repeat steps 1 and 2.

Please note that this process could result in damage to the 6-volt battery or the 4-volt charger, if they are not of equivalent quality.  Also, this article makes no assurance that following these steps will result in a downgrade in voltage from the 6-volt battery.
