How to Eliminate Static Cling from Your Laundry
Static Cling can be an embarrassment and a frustration when it occurs. There are a few simple methods you can use to prevent static cling from ruining your appearance.
Option 1 - Metal Hanger
Metal is an excellent conductor of electricity. To remove static cling from clothes you are already wearing, stretch out a wire hanger and rub the metal all over the inside of the afflicted garments. The electricity will be attracted to the hanger allowing your clothing to smooth out.
Option 2 - Carry a Dryer Sheet
Keep a dryer sheet, stored inside a zip-top plastic bag, available for emergencies. It can be stored in your glove compartment, purse, or office. Find a private area, remove the garment, and rub the dryer sheet over the inside of the material. This will allow the sheet to absorb the static electricity.
Option 3 - Prevention at the Source
A simple dryer sheet placed in your clothes dryer is often all that is needed to prevent static clean. If you are concerned about how commercial dryer sheets might affect your skin or budget, there are home alternatives to keeping your clothes free of electricity. Use a 1/4 cup of vinegar or Borax in your laundry wash cycle to discourage static.
