How to Get Rid of Bats on Your Porch

by DoItYourself Staff

what you'll need

  • Moth Balls
  • Repellent
  • Cloth
  • Water Hose

If you need to get rid of bats on your porch, there are a number of different things that you could try. Instead of calling in animal control specialist, you can usually try a few things first. Here are the basics of how to get rid of bats on your porch.

Step 1--Apply Repellent

One of the first thing that you should try is to spray repellent into the area in which the bats stay. You do not want to spray the repellent directly onto the bats, but only on the area in which they normally sit. You can purchase some dog and cat spray repellent for this job.

Step 2--Moth Balls

You could also try to use moth balls to scare the bats away. Get a piece of cloth and fill it with moth balls. Tie the cloth together to form a small sack full of moth balls. You can then hang this sack from the ceiling near the area where the bats like to be. In many cases, this will disrupt their environment and they will leave.

Step 3--Spray the Bats

If nothing else works, you can always try spraying them with a water hose. You do not want to hurt them, but the water will usually annoy them enough that they will leave.
