How to Get Rid of Spiders in the House

by DoItYourself Staff

Arachnophobia is one of the largest and most shared fears in all of humanity, whether or not you share this fear this guide will help you get rid of spiders residing in your house. While spiders can be a great help in ridding your home of other insects and bugs, the pain caused by spider bites makes most people decide spiders are not worth keeping around the house.

Eliminate their food source

As natural predators, spiders thrive in places with a heavy bug and insect population. Most of the time, the number of spiders in your home is directly related to the number of other bugs in your home. Doing what you can to eliminate these other pests will cause the spiders to look elsewhere for food, in turn forcing them to leave you and your house alone.

Eucalyptus leaves and Hedge Apples

Spiders also really hate both Eucalyptus leaves and hedge apples, making them excellent choices in pest control. Simply laying either of these where you most commonly see spiders will cause them to leave. Also, putting them anywhere with clutter such as closets, basements and dirty rooms will help drive them out of any unknown hiding spots they may have discovered.
