How to Get Silicone Sealant off Your Hands
what you'll need
- Soap and Water
- Cotton Pad
- Nail Polish Remover
Silicone sealant is a great multipurpose material that has many uses around your home. If you get some of this product on your hands while working, however, it can be a pain to remove. Follow the steps below to make the removal process as quick and painless as possible.
Step 1: Remove Large Pieces and Wash Hands
The first thing you will want to do is to remove as much of the product as you can by simply picking at it with your finger nails. After removing the biggest chunks of sealant, wash your hands several times with soap and warm water to soften the material.
Step 2: Apply Acetone Nail Polish Remover
Using a cotton pad, apply nail polish remover to the sealant on your hands. When working with acetone, a powerful solvent, be sure to work in a well-ventilated area.
Step 3: Rub Off Sealant
As the acetone in the nail polish remover begins to dissolve the silicone sealant, rub off the product with your hands.
Step 4: Wash Hands
After you have removed all of the remaining sealant on your hands, wash your hands in warm, soapy water once again. Since acetone may dry skin, consider applying a moisturizer to your hands.
