How to Glue Glass to Glass

This article describes the step by step process that teaches you how to glue glass to glass using a standard epoxy. Epoxies are bonding agents that are specifically designed to be used on a many surfaces including non porous surfaces like glass. Specific epoxies meant for bonding glass to glass are available for purchase at any home improvement store. Epoxies may be purchased premixed or you can mix them yourself. For first time epoxy users, it is best to purchase premixed epoxy to simply your task.

Basic Instructions

Every glass on glass gluing experience will be different depending upon the size, weight and thickness of the glass. The following instructions should be interpreted as basic instructions that can be adapted to your specific project.

  1. Position the two pieces of glass how you intend to bond them to get a visual representation of how the pieces will lay. By doing this you will be able to determine where to apply the epoxy when gluing.
  2. Apply an adequate coat of epoxy to the bonding surfaces of both pieces of glass before pressing them together to bond.
  3. Allow the pieces to sit together and bond for several hours until the glue has completely dried.
