How to Ground Floor Electrical Receptacles
Installing floor electrical receptacles is not a very difficult job and has several benefits. Grounding the receptacle is the most essential thing and often you might face difficulty to ground it if the proper connections are not available.
Tools Required
- Screwdriver
- Power drill
- Insulation tape
Step 1: Install the Electrical Receptacle
In a dry wall install the floor electrical receptacles properly and draw connecting wires through the hole that comes to the electrical box. Generally the connecting wires are drawn from the mains and so the grounding wire comes along with the neutral and hot wire. In case it is difficult to draw wires from the mains then the wires can be drawn from the floor below. Use a power drill to make a hole and you can get the wires from below.
Step 2: Grounding the Electrical Receptacle
Generally the electrical receptacle comes with a green screw. The grounding wire is the bare copper wire and so it can be identified easily. Using a screwdriver, fix this grounding wire to the green screw and you are done with grounding the receptacle. Next when you are installing the white and black wires be careful not to touch their bare portion with the grounding wire. Secure the connections with insulating tape.
