How to Identify Termite Mounds
Termites can do serious damage to your home, so if you want to prevent these pests from eating away at your house, you need to know how to identify termite mounds. Ironically, these enemies of pest control professionals everywhere actually create architectural works of beauty when they build their unique mounds.
Size and purpose of termite mounds
Termite mounds are the name we give to termite homes. Termites create residences that are usually raised above the surface of the soil. Some of these mounds are built quite tall, many times as high as four feet tall. However, they’re usually about one to two feet in height. The purpose of the mound is to give termite colonies a place to live, which keeps them safe from outside dangers, including bad weather and predators. Although termites are dangerous predators, their mounds are elaborate and ornate.
Not all termite species create mounds. These structures are specifically created in regions where there are dry air and hot temperature climates.
