How to Improve Day to Day Vacuum Suction
what you'll need
- Your Hands
- Vacuum Cleaner Bags
- Vacuum Cleaner Manual
Vacuum suction is important to a vacuum cleaner. If the machine's suction is low or poor, it will not be very good as a tool to use in your day to day cleaning chores. Improving the suction of your vacuum cleaner requires you to keep the machine as clean and dust-free as possible. This includes changing the vacuum cleaner bag as it gets full and removing any obstructions that may get in the way of the vacuum's suction power.
Step 1: Read the Care Manual for Your Vacuum Cleaner
One way to improve the day to day suction of your vacuum cleaner is to read the care instructions and suggestions provided by the manufacturer. The care instructions should be located in the owner's manual. Read through it carefully for tips that are provided for the care and maintenance of your vacuum cleaner. If you can not locate the owner's manual, you may be able to download a copy from the manufacturer's website or request a copy directly from the manufacturer.
Step 2: Remove the Vacuum Cleaner Bag
You should remove the vacuum cleaner bag and check it to see that it is not getting full. A full vacuum cleaner bag will reduce the suction power of your vacuum bag. You need to have a supply of vacuum cleaner bags nearby that can be used a replacements as you fill up the existing bag in your vacuum cleaner.
Step 3: Perform Routing Maintenance
The vacuum cleaner should be checked for loose belts and other parts that may cause it to loose suction. This check of your vacuum should be done after every few days of vacuuming. Open up the canister that houses the motor and belts that operate the vacuum cleaner. Check the tension on the belts by pulling on them to make sure that they snap back into place. If the belts seem loose or look worn they should be removed and replaced with new belts immediately.
If you hear any rattling inside the vacuum motor while in use or when performing your maintenance check this may indicate a problem with the vacuum motor. Take the vacuum to a qualified repair facility that can perform a diagnostic test and make sure that the motor is working properly. The repair shop can make repairs and adjustments and get your vacuum cleaner working as designed.
Step 4: Repeat Steps 1 to 3
You should regularly repeat the steps outlined above. This will keep your vacuum running as it should and improve the suction power.
