by DoItYourself Staff

what you'll need

  • 3 inch drywall screws
  • Adjustable wrenches
  • Carpenters level
  • Tape measure
  • Shims
  • Stud finder
  • Hole saws
  • Utility knife
  • Caulk and caulking gun
  • Power drill

Install a bath cabinet vanity if you want to remodel your bathroom and add storage space. It will also intensify the appearance of your bathroom. Here are the steps on how to install a bath cabinet vanity:

Step 1 – Measure the Width and Height of the New Vanity

Determine your preferred position for the vanity. Mark the edge locations based on your preferred position with vertical lines. Then, mark up and measure the height of vanity from the floor. Draw a straight line from the highest mark from the floor. Combine it with the vertical lines. The lines will be the appropriate outline for your placement of the vanity.

Step 2 – Install the New Bath Cabinet Vanity

Gauge the locations of the drain lines and the water pipes that are coming out from the wall. Transfer the measurements onto the back part of the vanity. Us a saw to drill holes into the water lines. Cut the drain’s cutout using a saw. See to it that there is a stud in the wall that’s behind the new vanity. Measure the area and then mark it on the vanity nailer. Make a pilot hole so the 3 inch screw can hold the vanity in position.

Step 3 – Install the New Bath Cabinet Vanity

Minimize the possible damages by removing any doors and drawers from the cabinet first. The vanity will be lighter and will be easier to remove if you do this. Protect the floors while you’re moving the vanity to its proper position. Slide the vanity in position with the drain and water pipes from the hole that you’ve cut. Ensure that the vanity cabinet is level from back to front and side to side. If necessary, use shims to level the vanity. Attach the vanity to the wall by using three-inch screws.

Step 4 – Install the Sink and the Countertop

Install the faucet before putting the countertop in position if there’s a molded or built-in sink in the new vanity. Put the faucet into the precut hole. Tighten the hole manually. Utilize a wrench to firm the vanity countertop after you’ve turned it over. Connect a flexible water supply lines into the faucet’s base. Attach the tail pipe into the sink drain. Then, spread a silicone caulk bead around the countertop’s edge. Turn over the countertop and position it onto the vanity. The backsplash must be tight against the wall.

Attach your bathroom’s countertop first if you’ll put a separate sink into the new vanity. After that, install the faucets into the sink before positioning the sink into your countertop.

Step 5 – Final Steps

Connect the bendable feed lines into the water supply valves. Attach the sink tailpiece into the trap. Let it drain. Apply a small amount of caulk around the faucet’s base where the countertop rams against the backsplash. Install the moldings around the vanity’s base. Run the water to inspect if there are any leaks.
