How to Install a Wireless Remote Light Switch
A wireless remote light switch is a convenient device that saves a homeowner both time and money. Installing a wireless remote light switch is a very simple project that requires basic knowledge of simple hand tools and being able to read directions.
Turn Power Off
Before you do any type of electrical work in your home the first step is to always turn the power off. If you know the specific breaker for that room you will only need to shut that one off. However, if you are not sure, or if the breaker box is not clearly marked, you should turn the main power off.
Locate Switch
The switch for a wireless remote light switch should be located in a convenient stop. This is typically behind the existing light switch. Connect the corresponding wires to the existing light switch.
Install Receiver
After the switch is installed, the receiver is installed near the light fixture. Remove the fixture and connect the corresponding wires to the correct areas on the light.
Program Wireless Control
Once the switch and the receiver are installed, you can turn the power back on. Turn on the wireless system and program your remote device. On most devices this means pushing the LRN button until it blinks. Once it starts blinking either release the LRN button, or press it again. Your wireless remote light switch should now be working.
