How to Install Carpet Tile In Your Home

Anyone with small children or pets will love the idea of carpet tiles. Here’s a simple guide on how to install carpet tile.

Clean the Floor

The first thing you’ll want to do after you’ve purchased your carpet tile is to clean the floor thoroughly. You can place carpet tile on any hard surface as long as it’s clean and free from any debris or dirt.

Let It Set

Leave the carpet tiles in the room you will be applying them in overnight. This will allow the tiles to acclimate to the temperature in the room and make them more likely to last.

Start At the Center

You’ll want to measure the room and find the exact center point. This will make the tiles look much more even and consistent. The best way to do this is with a chalk line. Making a big X with the chalk will give you a very accurate starting point.

Place the Tiles

Without removing the backing, place the tiles on the floor where you want them to lay. Once they are all in place, go back to the center of the room, start removing the backing, and place the tiles.

Cutting Corners

If you have a corner where a tile won’t fit, go ahead and cut the tile to fit snugly.

Be sure to allow at least 24 hours before walking on the new carpet so the tiles will set correctly.

You’ve just installed your brand new carpet tiles!
