While you can hire a professional to install your Mastic vinyl siding, this can cost a lot of money. The vinyl siding produced by this company has been created for easy installation. There are kits that you can purchase that make it possible for you to install mastic vinyl siding. The following information will show you how to use these kits to install the mastic vinyl siding to your home.
Step 1 – Trimming Vinyl Siding
You need to figure out the amount of mastic vinyl siding you need in order to cover your home. The amount of vinyl siding can be figured out by total square footage. Use a tape measure and take the measurement of one wall along the length and the width. Multiply those two numbers together and then multiply that number by the number of walls to cover. Do not concern yourself with window spaces or gable roofs. You will be trimming the mastic vinyl siding as you are installing it. When you come to an area like a window, measure the distance on each side. Measure the vinyl siding to these lengths and mark it with a pencil. Use the snips to trim the vinyl siding to the size you need. This same technique is used to trim the siding for gable roofs but using the length as well as the angle. Remember to measure twice and cut once in order to ensure a good fit.
Step 2 – Place the First Line
Each piece of vinyl has two flat edges with holes in them for nails. Always begin installing the mastic vinyl siding from the top of a wall and working your way down to the bottom of the wall. Make sure the first piece of vinyl is flush with the top of the wall and flat to the side of the wall. Hammer nails along the top edge of the vinyl siding to secure to the external wall. Do not put nails through the bottom holes.
Step 3 – The Rest of the Siding
The next piece of siding locks in place under the one above it, as this creates a seam with the vinyl siding. Use the level to make sure the pieces are even and true. When you are satisfied that they are, use nails through the holes in the bottom of the top piece of vinyl. The next piece goes under this last piece. Nail it in place. Continue like this until the wall is covered.
Step 4 – Finishing Up
Once all of the mastic vinyl siding is in place, you can add the top and bottom caps to the wall. The last stage is to add the corner pieces to the finished walls.
