Suspended shelving in a corner saves floor space while providing a lot of extra square footage for setting photos, books or other items. With a few simple tools and some lightweight components, you can install your own capacious corner shelving system.
Step 1: Locate Studs and Mark Position
Using the stud finder, locate the first 2 or 3 wall studs along both walls in the corner in which you will install the glass shelves. Come at each stud from both directions and mark the sides. This allows you to mark the center of the studs.
Step 2: Determine Placement of Shelves
Decide the distance between each shelf. At the appropriate height, hold the level horizontally against the wall. Once perfectly level, draw a straight line from stud to stud. Repeat step on both walls for each shelf.
Step 3: Set Shelf Supports
Drill small pilot holes in the center of each stud used to support the glass shelves. There should be at least 2 supports per wall side for every shelf. Affix the shelf supports to the wall with the hardware provided. One side of each support should be flush with the wall, the other perfectly flat for the shelf.
Step 4: Install Shelves
Carefully set the glass shelves in place. Help secure the shelves to the wall by placing several padded, 2-sided adhesive strips between the wall and the edge of each shelf. They can be cut to 3/8 inch to remain as hidden from sight as possible.
