How to Keep a Waste Disposal Unit Smelling Fresh
what you'll need
- Coffee grounds
- Lemons
- Oranges
- Vinegar
- Hard bristled brush
- Water
A waste disposal unit is not what it used to be. Waste disposal units have improved the efficient disposal of garbage wherever they are used. However, that does not say much for the odor that is commonplace with garbage. Fortunately, it is not a penny-pinching process to keep your disposal unit smelling fresh. There are certain ingredients around the home that can do this easily.
Step 1: Pour the Grounds
Once you are done satisfying your caffeine fix, pour the grounds down the drain. The drain will in turn start the disposal unit allowing the coffee grounds to take care of the unpleasant odor.
Step 2: Cut the Lemons
Lemons are the leading home-based ingredient for the attainment of freshness. Now that you know this, take a couple of lemons and cut them in half, and then run them through your disposal along with crushed ice. It will leave it well scented. You can also use lime or oranges. Another way to get rid of the odor is by running the citrus peels along with the crushed ice through the disposal. A crisp, fresh scent will come wafting through.
Step 3 – Clean the Disposal
Good old fashioned cleaning of the disposal unit should also do the trick. Take a basin of water and to it add a few tablespoons of vinegar. Take out the rubber cover of your disposal unit then use the bristled brush to clean inside.
