How to Maintain the Blades on a Plate Joiner
what you'll need
- Blade cleaner - be sure to check the label
- Rag
- Gloves
Maintaining the blades on a plate joiner is very simple but also very necessary. Here are a few tools and materials that you will need as well as some steps that can help you through the process.
Step 1 - Remove Blade
Begin by removing the blade from the plate joiner so that you can access it and clean it completely. Be sure to wear gloves as you are removing the blade from the tool.
Step 2 - Clean the Blade
Once the blade is off and the gloves are on, spray the blade with the cleaner and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Once it has soaked, use a soft cloth to slowly clean in a circular motion. You will need to turn it around and do the same thing with the other side as well.
Step 3 - Replace the Blade
Once you have gotten everything off the blade, inspect to make sure that nothing is left. If you find that the blade is dull and still dirty despite your efforts, you may need to replace it completely. If not, then allow the blade to dry fully and then attach it back to the plate joiner.
