How to Make Bamboo Venetian Blinds
what you'll need
- String
- Measuring tape
- Drill
- Bamboo
- Screws
- Metal brackets
Making bamboo venetian blinds are not as difficult as it may sound. Here are a few steps to help guide you through the process.
Step 1 - Measure the Area
First, measure the window frame and then take about a half inch off of the the height and width. This will allow room for the blinds without being smashed into the frame. Now that you know the height and width you can purchase the bamboo.
Step 2 - Drill
Next, line the bamboo up evenly and drill two holes. One hole on each end of the bamboo piece. Do this to each of the pieces, making sure that they are the same space apart for every one. Then put the string in starting from the bottom and working up and down the other side. At the bottom, tie a knot or attach an end that is too big to fall through the hole.
Step 3 - Put Blinds Up
Now, screw the brackets into the frame, one on each side. Hook the top bamboo piece into the bracket and test the blinds to see they work.
At the bottom of the string you can hook up a colorful or unique handle to match your decor.
