by DoItYourself Staff

Make your child’s homemade craft projects even more interactive by making your own glue. Using simple ingredients found in most cupboards, you can create a quality craft glue suitable for all art projects and craft purposes. Follow this recipe and get started now.

Homemade Craft Glue Recipe

  • 2 tbsp. corn syrup
  • ¾ cup water
  • 1 tsp. white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch
  • ¾ cold water

Combine water, vinegar and corn syrup in a small saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil. In another bowl, mix the cornstarch with the cold water stirring to prevent lumps. Slowly add this mixture to the saucepan, stirring continuously until the contents returns to boiling. Boil for 1 minute and remove from the heat. After the glue cools, pour it into a storage container and let it rest overnight before using.

Enjoy craft projects with your child even more by adding this fun project to your process. Teach your child how to make simple, everyday objects while having fun and using ingredients that you have on hand in your home. As with other commercial glue products, this homemade glue is not meant for eating.
