How to Make Molds for Concrete Stepping Stones

by DoItYourself Staff

what you'll need

  • Plastic container
  • Pourable mold rubber
  • Sealer
  • Releasing spray
  • Jug
  • Stones

You can make your own concrete stepping stone molds so you can create own stones for you garden or outdoor space. This project is not only creative, but it can also save you money. Follow the simple steps below to create molds for your path stones.

Step 1 - Prepare the Stones

You will first need to choose stones to cast the mold around. Once you have selected the stones of the right size and shape, apply a sealer to them so that all of the pores in the stones will be sealed up. Then spray the stones with releasing spray. You should also spray your plastic container with the same spray. Then put the stones down in the plastic container.

Step 2 - Pour the Rubber

Mix up the rubber in a jug. Then dump the rubber into the container, but not on top of the stones. Fill the container with rubber until it is even with the top of the stones.

Allow the rubber to dry overnight.

Step 3 - Remove

When it is dry, you should be able to remove the rubber mold from the container and remove the stones from the mold. You should now have a mold that you can use to make your own stepping stones.
