How to Make Rotary Clothes Line Poles

by DoItYourself Staff

what you'll need

  • shovel or hole auger
  • cement mixture
  • wood or metal posts
  • level

A rotary clothes line is considered the best option when it comes to drying your laundry. This is an environment-friendly tool that can also save you some money. You do not have to worry about your electric dryer ruining your clothes. The rotary clothes line pole looks almost like an umbrella turned upside down. You can either purchase a pole set for your clothes line or create one of your own. You can make one out of wood or galvanized iron. To do this, follow the simple instructions below.

Step 1: Dig a Solid Foundation

Choose the right location. The hole should be around 1 foot in depth and 1 foot in diameter. Make sure that you are not digging on any utility lines.

Step 2: Fill in the Holes

Mix your cement to the right consistency and fill the hole with it up to a third of the depth. Place the pole inside the hole and top it off with the rest of the cement. See to it that the post is at a level upright position. After this, you can install the rest of the clothes line such as the spires and handles.
