How to Measure for Bow Window Blinds

To ensure a good result, it is important to measure your window correctly during the process of fitting bow window blinds. Following a few basic steps will ensure that you do not encounter any problems.

Step 1 – Gain Access

Position the ladder to enable you to gain access to the top of the window. Do this rather than measuring at window sill level, as there will be a different amount of space available. Ensure that it is close enough to the window to allow you to measure comfortably.

Step 2 – Measure Width             

Plot where you want the top of the bow window blinds to be located and mark it with a pencil line. Use a stiff tape measure that is used for do it yourself projects rather than one used for sewing. This will make it easier to measure a straight line. Do not measure a curved line to fit the bow window blinds, as this will result in an incorrect length. Make a note of the width of each individual window pane.

Step 3 – Measure Length

Drop the tape measure to where you want the bow window blinds to end and make a note of this.
