How to Mix Nail Polish
what you'll need
- Light nail polish
- Dark nail polish
- Nail polish remover
- Wax paper
- Small brush
If you’ve every run out of your favorite color of nail polish and just don’t have the time (or the money) to get more, it is possible to custom make your own. Just like a painter mixes his own colors, you can do the same by following the 3 steps below:
Step 1 - Right Shade
From the nail polish colors you already have on hand, find a darker shade and a lighter shade that you think will blend together to make the color you would like.
Step 2 - Color Palette
Just like an artist uses a palette, use a piece of wax paper as a pallet. Begin by gently pouring some of the polish of the lighter shade onto the wax paper palette. Then, carefully pour the darker shade onto the lighter shade.
Step 3 -Mixing
Using the brush of one of the polishes, mix the 2 colors together until you have the hue you desire. If needed, you may thin the polish with some nail polish remover. You can increase the shade of the polish by adding more of the darker color or lighten it by adding more of the lighter color, until you have the perfect shade you desire.
