If you want to achieve a rustic look on your wall without the costs associated with installing real bricks, then a faux brick pattern is the right decorating tip for you. You can paint faux brick on the wall using a few simple materials and without the hassles of masonry-oriented procedures.
Step 1 – Preparation
Remove wall decorations, nails and electrical outlets. Use a wet cotton rag to clean the wall surface and remove excess dirt and traces of grease.
Step 2 – Apply Base Color
Pour paint in the paint tray and use a roller brush to apply two coats of base color on the wall. The color should be a neutral shade that will further complement the color of faux brick. Let the wall dry completely before proceeding.
Step 3 - Paint Faux Brick
Cut one of the brick shaped sponges in half. You will use this to create a more realistic effect in painting faux brick. Dampen the sponge and squeeze off excess water. Pour a small amount of acrylic paint on a paint plate and use a foam brush to apply paint on the wet sponge. You may add the secondary color to the plate to produce a more realistic effect.
Dab the sponge on the wall. Use the smaller sponge to alternate the brick layout. Leave at least a ½ inch gap between each faux brick. Paint the entire wall and let dry.
