by DoItYourself Staff

As every dishwasher knows who has used an automatic dishwasher, eventually you have to remove the sticking of your dishwasher tray that rolls in and out of your dishwasher. But before you can do this with confidence you may need guidance. Here are 7 steps you can use to get your sticking dishwasher tray working smoothly again.

Things You'll Need:

  • Steel wool
  • Soft absorbent cloth
  • Vinegar (white)
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • Paper towel

Step 1: Empty your Dishwasher

Remove all dishes from the tray, dirty or clean.

Step 2: Remove the dishwasher rack

From the dishwasher remove the rack and set it where it will be out of your way.

Step 3: Remove Debris from the Tracks

Use a damp piece of steel wool to remove debris from the tracks your tray wheels rolls on.

Step 4: Polish the Roller Hardware

Using the same scrubbing action, remove debris from the rack hardware on both sides of the rack.

Step 5: Wipe Track Surfaces

With a soft vinegar-dampened rag, wipe off all surfaces of the track

Step 6: Oil Track Grooves

Spray oil from your aerosol can onto the rack grooves.

Step 7: Wipe off Excess Oil

Using your rag, wipe off all excess oil outside the track grooves and dishwasher walls.
