How to Remove a Tail Light
what you'll need
- Screwdriver
- Bowl for screws and parts
Whether due to breaking a tail light cover or burning out a tail light bulb, removing a tail light is quick and easy.
Step One - Assessing Access
Some tail lights are removed from the outside of the vehicle while others must be removed through the trunk. Look over the outer cover of your taillight for screws located in the corners of the lens cover. If there are no visible screws on the outer lens cover, your tail light will need to be accessed through the trunk.
Step Two - Outer Lens Cover Removal
Use a screwdriver to remove all screws and firmly pull back on the lens cover. Remember to place all screws into a container so that none are lost. Once the lens cover is removed the tail light housing will be obvious and the bulb can be removed.
Step Three - Interior Trunk Access
Once you have opened the trunk, the interior panel screws can be located on the left and right sides towards the rear of the car. Using a screwdriver remove the screw and gently peal back the carpeted, interior panel. Once exposed the tail light housing and bulb can easily be replaced.
