How to Remove an Oven Door
what you'll need
- Oven
- Screwdriver
- Gloves
You will need to remove your oven door to replace it or if you wish to thoroughly clean your oven. Whatever be the need, removing the oven door might sound to be a daunting task but it is not the case and you can do it yourself.
Step 1 – Turn-off Power Supply
Turn off the gas or power supply to the oven, as the case may be. To avoid any injury, wear gloves before you grab the door.
Step 2 – Open the Door to Broil Position
Open the door to its broil position. Generally, this is the last position in which the door stays open before it closes.
Step 3 – Lift up the Door
Hold the door from both the sides and slowly lift it up. You will feel that the hinges from the base of the oven begin to come loose.
Step 4 – Remove the Hinges
You might need to pry up the hinges from their sockets. Use a screwdriver to do so. For the self-cleaning models, you will need to unscrew the hinges manually. Lift up the over door and take it out of the oven.
You can now proceed to clean up the oven or replace the door or any other thing you wanted to do.
