How to Remove Ceramic Tile from Your Shower Walls
what you'll need
- Blow torch
- Putty knife
- Hammer
- Craft knife
If you want to remove ceramic tiles from a shower wall, then you will have to be very careful. You will have to watch for damaged tiles, and make sure that no breakages occur when you are trying to remove them. Taking them down is not that difficult, however, and you should be able to mange it within a reasonable time.
Step 1 - Warm Up the Grout
You need to make the grout around the ceramic tiles in your shower as warm as possible. This will make it easier to remove the tiles from around the sides of your shower. You can use a sharp craft knife to scrape off the grout as it softens, and then you will have the tiles exposed to your hammer.
Step 2 - Tap off the Tiles
Using your hammer, tap down the ceramic tiles from your shower wall. The tiles should be tapped gently to ensure that you don't break them but hard enough to ensure that they are dislodged. Put your putty knife under each tile, and pry upwards. Continue to do this until you have pried off all of the ceramic tiles that you wish to remove from your shower.
