How to Remove Ink Stains from Plastic
what you'll need
- Rubbing alcohol
- All-purpose cleaner
- Water and ammonia
- Soap
- Cloths, cotton balls, cotton swabs
Do not worry about accidentally spilling pen ink on your plastic chair–it is easy to remove ink stains. If you happen to stain any other plastic surface other than your chair, you can also follow these simple steps.
Step 1 – Determine the Type of Cleaner to Use
To remove ink stains on plastic, you have two choices: Use an all-purpose cleaner or alcohol. The latter is usually the easiest to find inside the home (or anywhere else, actually), but the former is usually designed for the purpose of removing stubborn stains.
Step 2 – Prepare Your Tools
Be sure that you already have your tools on hand.
Step 3 – Prepare to Rub
Moisten your cloth or cotton balls with alcohol. If you decide to use the all-purpose cleaner, spray it on the stained surface and wipe away. Rub until the stain is gone.
Step 4 – Make a Second Attempt
If you use the all-purpose cleaner but still see the stain, use ammonia for the job. Put a few drops on the stain for a few minutes and then wipe it off. Wash the once-stained area with soap and water. Dry the area afterwards.
