How to Remove Wine Stains from Cotton

- Bucket
- Small bowl
- 3% Hydrogen peroxide
- Dish detergent
- Sponge
- White vinegar
If you need to remove wine stains from cotton, keep in mind that the quicker you get to treating the stain, the more likely the spot will be removed. The following steps will help you quickly, easily and inexpensively remove the stain on your cotton fabric.
Step 1
Fill a bucket with cool water. Place the cotton in the bucket of water to soak for ten minutes. Remove the cotton from the bucket, squeezing out any excess water.
Step 2
Combine ½ cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide and ½ cup of dish detergent in a small bowl.
Step 3
Put a small amount of the cleaning solution on the cotton to test be sure that it will not bleach the cotton at all.
Step 4
Use your sponge to apply your stain remover to the wine stain. Leave the remover on the stain for about ten minutes.
Step 5
Empty the bucket of the cool water you used before. Refill it with cold water. Completely immerse the in the cold water. Remove the cotton from the water, squeezing out all of the excess water. Repeat the process until the entire stain is removed.
Step 6
Run the cotton through a normal washing machine cycle.
