How to Replace a Bulb in a Big Screen TV

If you notice slight disturbances in the images of your big screen TV, it is better to check the bulb before calling for professional help. Chances are that the bulb needs a replacement and this can be easily done with some basic tools. The bulb within a big screen TV is among its most critical components, affecting the TV’s overall picture quality. The bulb is the source of light and is easy-to-replace. Usually, bulbs don’t malfunction and are meant to last for years. However, with sustained usage, they are prone to wearing-out. For replacing the bulb of your big screen tv, use the following information.

Step 1—Getting Started: Basic Precautions and Disengaging Big Screen TV

Switch-off the power supply to the TV. Ensure that your remove all the connecting wires. Remove the cable connections to the TV. Unplug all the media devices and any nearby power cords that might get entangled during the project. Allow the TV to cool down. This usually takes a few minutes. Prepare yourself with rubber gloves. After some time, touch the back cover of the TV. If it is not hot, you can proceed.

Take the removed bulb to an electrical supply store to find an exact replacement. Ensure that you buy a bulb with the same wattage and size traits. Usually, big screen TV bulbs are sold with warranties described in terms of hours of viewing. This can be anywhere between 5,000 and 10,000 hours which translates into a few years.

Step 4—Cleaning Inside of Big Screen TV
