How to Replace a Dishwasher Drain Hose

Replacing a dishwasher drain hose is one of the easiest do-it-yourself projects. If you have a few basic tools you can complete this job under an hour. It is not complicated and you do not need a professional to execute it. Read on to find out how to replace a dishwasher drain hose.

Step 1 – Electric Supply

The first step in replacing the dishwasher drain hose is to cut the electric supply to the dishwasher. Either pull off the electric chord from the socket or just cut the main electric supply until the job is complete. Double check by trying to turn the machine on.

Step 2 – Drain Connection

The next step is to locate the drain connection on the dishwasher. Look under the drain close to the dishwasher to locate it.

Step 3 – Removing the Drain Connection

After locating the drain connection you will have to remove it. The connection can be detached by unscrewing the nuts that are holding it in place. An adjustable wrench will be apt for this.

Step 4 – Brackets

The next step is to remove the brackets that hold the dishwasher in place. The brackets are held in place by screws. Use a screwdriver to take the screws off. This will get the brackets out.

Step 5 – Moving the Machine

In order to access the dishwasher drain hose you will have to move the machine. If you are finding it difficult to slide the machine out check the wires and see that they are untangled. Then proceed to make room.

Step 6 – Locating the Drain Hose

The next step is to locate the dishwasher drain hose. It is generally located at the left hand side on the bottom of the machine, closer to the floor.

Step 7 – Drain Hose Connection

Once you locate the dishwasher drain hose, spot where it leads to in the cabinet. You need to know the point of origin in order to replace the dishwasher drain hose.

Step 8 – Detaching the Drain Hose

With the pliers, proceed to detach the existing dishwasher drain hose. Squeeze the clamp and slide the drain hose out.

Step 9 – Installing the New Dishwasher Drain Hose

The next step is to introduce the new dishwasher drain hose and connect it to the drain and the dishwasher. Clamp in the connector and ascertain the hold of the seal.

Step 10 – Replace the Dishwasher

Slide the dishwasher back into its original position. This time around, be careful with the wires. Make sure they do not get tangled up.

Step 11 – Electric Supply

Now that the dishwasher drain hose has been replaced, turn on the electric supply. Make sure to plug in the chord.

Step 12 – Final Step

The final step in the dishwasher drain hose replacement process is to test the new installation. Put the machine through a test run.
