How to Replace Awning Window Hardware

There are a number  of variables to consider when you decide to replace your awning window hardware. First, you have to consider what kind of awning you have; whether it is a retractable or permanent awning. Secondly, you have to consider if you just want to replace a few parts or the entire awning. The following are a few steps to consider concerning how to replace awning window hardware.

Step 1 - Removal

If your awning is retractable, this means that it is spring loaded.  It could pop at you if you are not careful. Have someone hold the opposite end of your awning. while you work. Remove the frame arms then remove the screws that make up the awning mechanism itself. Switch jobs with your partner.

A permanent awning is likely to become damaged if you remove it whole by yourself. Renting a cherrypicker or creating a support scaffolding is the only way to remove it without bending it significantly. If only a few parts need to be replaced, it is best to leave the awning in its place with supports while replacing the part rather than removing it entirely.

Step 2 - Replacement

Install your new awning window hardware, according to the piece's instructions.
